General Information

What are my responsibilities as a member?

All members are required to attend every meeting with an allowance of two absences with just reason, along with an email sent in advance to alert the executive council.  By the end of the year, seven events must be completed which can be fulfilled by participation in drives and other scheduled opportunities that are listed on the calendar. There is also a once per cycle week tutoring requirement that enables members to aid fellow students in growing academically. (Involvement in one term of the REACH program can fulfill this requirement). While certain requirements must be met, each member dictates how involved they will become in bettering our high school and the Newtown community as a whole and this has no bounds!

How are we involved with the community and with What organizations?

FUN

FUN stands for Families United in Newtown and allows NHS members to meet, spend time, and form bonds with young community members with special needs during an array of events throughout the year.

REACH

REACH is a program that fosters mentorship and the formation of relationships between high school students and younger community members.

Masonicare and Maplewood

NHS values the development of relationships with not only peers and younger members of Newtown, but our senior citizens as well! During the year several trips are organized to enjoy activities and time with residents at Masonicare and Maplewood.
